Asserting Commitment to Environmentally Friendly Steel Production, GRP Achieves Indonesian Green Label Certification

Cikarang Barat, March 5, 2024 — To consistently produce high-quality and environmentally friendly products, PT. Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) has officially received the Indonesian Green Label certification from the Green Product Council Indonesia. The comprehensive assessment from production processes to finished products includes ten flagship steel products, such as hot rolled plate, hot rolled coil, coil plate, cold rolled coil, steel pipe galvanize, carbon steel pipe, carbon steel square pipe, H-Beam, WF-Beam, and U Channel.

The Green Product Council Indonesia (GPCI) is a non-profit organization concerned about the environment regarding the use of industrial materials, especially building materials. GPCI was established to encourage all communities to consider environmental aspects in using eco-friendly building materials. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Green Label Certificate is awarded to environmentally friendly products that meet the criteria set by professional auditors.

Commenting on the company's achievement, Sheren Omega, GM Corporate Planning and Sustainability at GRP stated, "This certification not only reflects the company's commitment to maintaining and improving environmental standards at every stage of production but also underscores our transparent adherence to strict local standards. We believe that this achievement will contribute to helping the government achieve carbon emission reduction targets in the country's steel industry."

In the verification process, GRP obtained a score of 95%, entitling it to the GOLD predicate. As a Type I ecolabel following the ISO 12024 process, the Indonesian Green Label aims to prevent and reduce the impact of products on humans, animals, and the environment, including soil, water, and air pollution. This aligns with SDG Goal No. 12 on responsible production and consumption.

This certification includes a comprehensive assessment of product quality, energy and water consumption efficiency, implementation of sustainable environmental management systems, and proper waste management. The assessment of the 10 products was conducted rigorously according to the Indonesian Green Label criteria, which include general requirements, environmental management systems, heavy metals, carcinogens, other hazardous substances, energy and water consumption, ecosystem impacts, packaging, and labeling.

"With the acquisition of this certification, we further affirm our commitment to producing quality steel without forgetting the surrounding environment. Consumers can trust that when they choose our products, they choose independently verified and certified products. We invite you to join us in our sustainability journey and experience the difference that responsible manufacturing can make. These proactive steps are expected to inspire other industries to adopt eco-friendly practices," concluded Sheren.
