GRP 鼓励政策和行业协同增效,加强国家竞争力
Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP), an integrated steel producer in Indonesia, is encouraging greater synergy between the government as a policymaker and the industry to strengthen national competitiveness.
GRP President Director Fedaus stated that building national competitiveness cannot be done in isolation. Instead, a more integrated approach is needed—one that involves the government, industry players, and research institutions—to ensure that industrial policies are both responsive and progressive.
“Synergy between policy and industry players is key. Effective policies must be grounded in a comprehensive understanding of the realities on the ground,” he said during the launch of the Indonesia Sustainable Trade and Investment Report 2025, hosted by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta on Friday.
On the other hand, he continued, industries must also be able to adapt and innovate within a policy framework that increasingly emphasizes sustainability and global competitiveness.
In a panel discussion themed “Achieving Resilience and Sustainability Amid Uncertainty”, Fedaus emphasized that the steel industry holds a strategic position in the continuity of other industrial sectors.
He referred to steel as the “Mother of Industry,” a term that reflects its foundational role in nearly all aspects of national development.
Therefore, he added, transforming the steel industry must be a part of the long-term strategy to address global shifts and the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
According to him, GRP emphasizes that decarbonization is not merely the responsibility of individual companies. More importantly, it is a collective agenda to make Indonesia’s steel industry more internationally competitive.
In relation to decarbonization, GRP has already taken concrete steps, from formulating a Net Zero Roadmap to operating a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 9.3 MWp.
These efforts are reinforced through improved governance and annual sustainability reporting, including achieving a CDP Climate Change score of B- in 2024, and enhancing product competitiveness through Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification.
“We see decarbonization as part of our industrial strategy, not just an environmental obligation. The world is becoming increasingly selective about products with low carbon footprints. If Indonesia’s steel industry wants to remain competitive, we must start now—together,” he said.
Speaking about GRP’s participation in the CSIS forum, Fedaus explained that it reflects the company’s commitment to actively engage in shaping a national industrial policy that is resilient, adaptive, and relevant to global challenges, while collaboratively addressing future sustainability needs.
