GRP 通过参与 AIGIS 2025 加强低排放行业努力

Jakarta, August 22, 2025 – PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) participated in the Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2025, organized by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. Now in its second year, the event serves as a cross-sector collaboration platform to accelerate the transformation toward a more environmentally friendly industry.

The summit was opened by the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. In his remarks, Agus emphasized the importance of synergy between economic growth strategies and environmental policies. “Economic growth should not be set against efforts to reduce carbon or greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector. On the contrary, the two must go hand in hand,” he said.

Agus further stated that the industrial sector contributes around 30 percent of Indonesia’s total CO2 emissions, making efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in this sector not only crucial for environmental sustainability but also supportive of achieving the target of 8 percent economic growth by 2029.

He also noted that the national manufacturing industry is now at a crucial juncture in facing global demands, particularly the transition to clean energy and emission reduction. Accelerating green industry transformation is considered an urgent necessity to maintain national competitiveness amid the global green economy trend. “We always emphasize that efforts to transform into a green industry should not be seen as a cost, but as an investment. Therefore, the state must be present, because this initiative is aligned with the President’s Asta Cita vision,” said Agus.

Meanwhile, Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Industrial Service Standards and Policy Agency (BSKJI) at the Ministry of Industry, stated that AIGIS 2025 carries the theme “Driving Industrial Decarbonization Through Green Industry Ecosystem.“Through this theme, we hope AIGIS can serve as a platform to encourage active participation of all stakeholders in accelerating the development of the national green industry ecosystem,” said Andi.

“We appreciate all industry associations and manufacturers for their active commitment to supporting green industry. AIGIS is a joint forum that promotes innovation, expands the implementation of green industry practices, and creates a sustainable future,” Andi added.

GRP’s participation in AIGIS 2025 demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting industrial decarbonization efforts, strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian steel products, and contributing to the achievement of national sustainability targets in line with international standards.

On this occasion, Ivan Widjaksono, Director of SCM and Digital at GRP, conveyed that the transition to a green industry requires synergy from all parties. “Collaboration between the government, industry players, academia, and society is the key to accelerating the implementation of green industry principles. Through participation in AIGIS 2025, we hope this forum can deliver clear and measurable policies so that all steel industry players can compete on a level playing field,” Ivan said.

Ivan added that GRP has taken several concrete steps in its transition toward a low-emission industry. GRP, he explained, became one of the first steel producers in Indonesia to obtain Green Industry Standard Certification from the Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Metal and Machinery, Ministry of Industry, for its Hot Rolled Coil, Cold Rolled Coil, and Plate products.

“GRP’s production process has also met sustainability criteria in both international and domestic markets, as proven by its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for exports and the Green Label Indonesia certification for the domestic market,” he explained.

GRP further highlighted the importance of regulations that encourage the broad adoption of green industry practices across the national steel sector. With a strong regulatory framework, Indonesia can ensure that the transition toward a low-emission industry is fair, measurable, and capable of enhancing competitiveness in the global market.

Decarbonization remains a critical agenda item at AIGIS 2025, as the steel sector continues to contribute around 7 to 8 percent of global carbon emissions. On the other hand, the Indonesian government has set ambitious targets through its Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) document to reduce emissions by 31.89 percent independently or 43.2 percent with international support by 2030, and to achieve net zero carbon by 2060 or earlier.

Regarding decarbonization, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) also highlighted the role of green industry. According to IESR, investment in the green industry has the potential to boost national economic growth while creating significant employment opportunities, with projected absorption of up to 1.7 million jobs by 2045 and a contribution of IDR 638 trillion to Indonesia’s GDP by 2030. However, data from the Indonesia Iron and Steel Industry Association (IISIA) shows that the absorption of green-labeled steel products in the domestic market remains low, with the majority instead going to export markets such as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China. Therefore, a strong regulatory framework is needed to bring all stakeholders together. (*)
