工信部赞赏GRP向加拿大出口钢材

The Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia expresses appreciation for the commitment of PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) in aggressively penetrating the export market. In early 2024, the company released an export of 1500 Metric Tons (MT) of structural steel to Canada, with a value of approximately USD2 million. Previously, in 2023, GRP also recorded export achievements totalling USD25 million.

"In March 2022, GRP exported 700 MT of structural steel worth USD1 million to Arizona, the United States. Earlier in September 2020, GRP also made its debut export of structural steel to Vancouver, Canada, amounting to 4,600 tons or USD4.7 million, despite the ongoing crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic," stated Doddy Rahadi, Expert Staff in the Field of Business Climate and Investment of the Ministry of Industry, representing the Minister of Industry during the release of GRP's structural steel export in Cikarang Barat, Bekasi, on Monday (15/1).

These achievements demonstrate that the quality of domestic steel products has been recognized globally, enabling them to penetrate the international market. "Our steel industry has a highly competitive edge compared to similar products from other countries, meeting domestic market needs and competing globally," he added.

"We also support the transformation of the national steel industry into a green industry. We appreciate GRP's commitment to supporting decarbonization through the launch of the Net Zero Roadmap, in line with our target to achieve NZE by 2050 in the industrial sector," he added.

According to Doddy, GRP's efforts also reflect the growing confidence of the national manufacturing industry in expanding its export market globally. This is supported by the increasing competitiveness of local products and the rising demand in export markets, driving the optimization of company productivity.

"One of the manufacturing subsectors that has performed excellently amid the global economic slowdown is the basic metals industry. Moreover, the basic metals industry is known as the mother of industry, playing a crucial role in boosting the national economic growth," said Doddy.

On the same occasion, GRP's President Director, Fedaus, mentioned that the structural steel products exported by GRP earlier this year will support the construction of the Yukon Bridge project in Canada. "With Weather Resistance Grade, this product contains nickel additions for corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for bridge construction in extreme weather conditions," he explained.

Through the export of structural steel, Fedaus continued, GRP strives to achieve new milestones and strengthen Indonesia's position on the global stage. "Our commitment is not only to improve the quality of steel products but also to play our role in supporting international-scale infrastructure development," he stated.

According to Fedaus, GRP's contribution to strengthening the iron and steel industry in Indonesia is not just about export figures but also about creating a positive impact on the national economic growth. "The company is committed to continuous innovation, maintaining high-quality standards, and playing a crucial role in shaping a positive image of Indonesia in the industrial world," he concluded.
