Supporting Steel Innovation and Industry Sustainability, GRP Launches FORTISE and FORTISE+
Jakarta, June 25, 2025 - PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP), one of the largest private steel producers in Indonesia, introduced two new product lines: FORTISE and FORTISE+. Both products are part of the company's strategy in providing construction materials that are resilient and aligned with global sustainability trends.
Both products were developed to address the increasingly diverse needs of the market. Starting from cost efficiency, material durability, to environmental aspects. By using Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology and scrap steel material, GRP strives to present relevant solutions amidst the changing expectations of the construction and manufacturing industries, both at home and abroad.
FORTISE is intended for general applications, offering flexibility and production efficiency for large and medium-scale construction projects. While FORTISE+ is formulated for more specific needs, such as high-rise building structures, industrial facilities, and heavy infrastructure. It combines strength and sustainability. FORTISE+ is made from scrap steel material with a content of around 75%, and has a yield strength above 345 MPa, a tensile strength of more than 450 MPa, and is available in thicknesses of up to 120 mm.
GRP President Director Fedaus hopes that the presence of FORTISE and FORTISE+ can expand the contribution of the national steel industry in meeting the needs of the strategic sector, as well as support the achievement of Indonesia's long-term target towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 or sooner.
“The launch of FORTISE and FORTISE+ is part of our commitment to continue to innovate, especially in presenting steel material options that are more responsible for the environment and market needs,” said Fedaus.
“We believe that innovation needs to go hand in hand with challenges, and the progress of the national industry can only be achieved through cross-sector collaboration and the courage to try new approaches,” Fedaus continued.
The launch received attention from government and industry stakeholders. Dodiet Prasetyo, Director of Metals, DG Ilmate, Ministry of Industry RI said, “The initiative to develop energy efficient and environmentally friendly steel products is an important step in strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry amid the global transition to a green economy.”
Director of Construction Sustainability at the Directorate General of Bina Konstruksi of the Ministry of Public Works, Ir. Kimron Manik, MSc, also expressed support. In a panel discussion titled “Building Resilient Indonesian Infrastructure and Industry Through Innovation in the Steel Industry”, he said, future infrastructure must be smarter, greener, and built together.
"The Ministry of Public Works encourages the use of environmentally friendly construction materials from the design stage to operations. Steel plays an important role in supporting sustainable and adaptive development," he explained.
On the sidelines of the launch of the two products, GRP also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Center for Materials Processing and Failure Analysis (CMPFA), Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. The signing of the MoU is part of the commitment to strengthen the synergy between industry and academia. The collaboration includes the development of training, joint research, and the exchange of technical knowledge and expertise to encourage the transition of the national steel industry towards more sustainable practices.
Head of CMPFA FTUI, Dr. Ing. Reza Miftahul Ulum, said that this collaboration is an important step in uniting academic research capacity with the real needs of industry. “We hope this collaboration can encourage the formation of an innovation ecosystem that accelerates the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies in the steel sector and opens up wider participation space for young Indonesian talents,” Reza said.
