Digital Transformation Boosts Steel Industry Efficiency
JAKARTA, Investor.id - PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP), a national integrated steel producer, shared its digital transformation journey in a Fireside Chat session themed Tech: Next is Now in the Catalyst Program Showcase event held in the Indonesia Australia Prosperity Expo 2025 series.
The activity organized by the IA-CEPA ECP Katalis Economic Cooperation Program was officially opened by Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti. GRP's participation in this program is proof of the company's commitment to digital innovation, sustainability, and strategic partnerships to strengthen the future of Indonesian industry.
In the discussion session, GRP was represented by Ivan Widjaksono, director of supply chain management and digital. The session discussed the use of digital innovation to drive industrial transformation and create new value in manufacturing and other sectors.
Ivan explained the company's experience in adopting digital technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and sustainability. “Digital transformation gives us the tools to work more efficiently, respond to customer needs, and align with global best practices,” Ivan said, quoted on Thursday (14/8/2025).
The company, he said, sees a close relationship between digitalization and sustainability. The principle is that the more accurate and data-driven the process, the greater the positive impact, both for company performance and the environment.
As part of its commitment to quality and sustainability, he continued, GRP ensures its products meet international standards, especially in the Australian market. The company has an independently verified environmental product declaration (EPD), containing information on the environmental impact of GRP steel products throughout their life cycle, from raw materials, production processes, distribution, to the end of life. This EPD supports the implementation of sustainable construction and helps GRP products meet the criteria for green building projects.
GRP also holds certification from the Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels (ACRS). This certification ensures GRP products have undergone a thorough audit of raw materials, production processes and finishes, and meet applicable safety and quality standards in Australia and New Zealand.
Katalis, launched in 2020, is a joint initiative under the Indonesia Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) to maximize the potential of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Director of Katalis Paul Bartlett said that over the past five years, Katalis has worked with government and industry to maximize the potential of IA-CEPA. It helps turn business intentions into real partnerships that drive shared prosperity, job creation and inclusive growth.
“As we enter the next phase, we will strengthen the existing foundations and remain aligned with the economic and development priorities of both countries,” he said.
