Commemorating National Occupational Safety and Health Month, GRP Strengthens Safety and Health Culture

Cikarang Barat, February 13, 2025 – PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP), one of Indonesia’s leading private steel companies, has once again demonstrated its commitment to upholding occupational safety and health (K3). This was evident through a series of activities held in commemoration of the 2025 National K3 Month, which took place from January 12 to February 12, 2025. The event was aligned with the national theme: *“Strengthening Human Resource Capacity to Support the Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (SMK3) for Enhanced Productivity.”

Through these initiatives, GRP reaffirmed its dedication to implementing safety and health standards within the national steel industry. With a strong commitment to K3, the company strives to create a work environment that is not only safe and healthy for its employees but also contributes positively to the industry and society at large.

GRP’s President Director, Fedaus, emphasized that as part of an industry with high-risk operations, GRP consistently prioritizes occupational safety and health in all its activities. This aligns with Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 on Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (SMK3), which underscores K3 as a comprehensive effort to safeguard workers from workplace accidents and occupational illnesses.

“With growing awareness of the importance of K3 implementation, GRP continues to take proactive and preventive measures to create a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all employees,” Fedaus stated in his remarks today.

According to Fedaus, the implementation of K3 is not merely a regulatory obligation. Beyond that, it reflects employee awareness and responsibility, as well as a long-term strategy to enhance the competitiveness of the national steel industry.

“Occupational safety and health are the foundation for creating a productive and sustainable work environment. We believe that a strong K3 culture will have a positive impact, not only for employees but also for the company’s business growth. Therefore, GRP remains committed to developing innovative K3 programs that deliver tangible benefits for our workforce,” Fedaus explained.

In line with efforts to enhance K3 effectiveness, GRP has also implemented the 5R program (Ringkas, Rapi, Resik, Rawat, dan Rajin) since 2023. This program has become a key strategy for improving workplace conditions and fostering a robust safety culture. As a result, in 2024, Total Recordable Injuries decreased by over 70% compared to the previous year. Additionally, data from January 2025 showed a more than 20% reduction in workplace accidents compared to January 2024.

“These achievements reflect the company’s commitment to continuously improving safety standards year after year,” Fedaus noted.

Regarding the National K3 Month celebrations, Fedaus added that GRP organized various activities aimed at raising employee awareness and skills in applying safety standards within the operational environment. One such activity was a Fire Simulation Drill, designed to test employee readiness and response in emergency fire situations. This simulation is part of regular risk mitigation measures to ensure all employees are well-versed in evacuation procedures and hazard management.

GRP also conducted a Medical Check-Up program for all employees to monitor their health conditions and provide follow-up recommendations if any health issues were detected. These routine health checks are part of the company’s policy to create a healthier and more productive work environment.

Furthermore, GRP held a K3 Exercise involving employees from various units. This initiative not only aimed to improve physical fitness but also to reduce the risk of work-related illnesses often caused by inactive lifestyles.

Additionally, GRP hosted a Safety Talk featuring H. Natrom, ST., MM., a Senior Labor Supervisor from the West Java Provincial Manpower Office, as the keynote speaker. During the session, employees gained insights into the importance of K3 implementation in the workplace and the latest government policies supporting more effective safety and health management systems.

“We appreciate PT Gunung Raja Paksi’s commitment to continuously improving its occupational safety and health systems. GRP’s efforts not only protect workers but also enhance productivity and the company’s competitiveness. We hope these initiatives will continue to grow and become a sustainable work culture, not just during National K3 Month but throughout the year,” said Natrom.
