GRP Reaffirms Environmental Compliance and Active Role in Advancing the Green Industry, by Receiving PROPER Award

Jakarta, April 15, 2025 – PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) has once again earned the Blue PROPER rating from Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment. This marks the 12th time GRP has received the recognition, underscoring the company’s long-standing commitment to environmental compliance and the integration of sustainability principles across its operations.

GRP’s President Director, Fedaus, credited this achievement to the collective efforts of the GRP team in consistently upholding high environmental standards. “This award serves as a reminder that industrial success should not be measured solely by business scale, but also by how much we contribute to environmental sustainability,” said Fedaus.

PROPER (Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management) is an annual assessment by the Ministry that evaluates companies based on their adherence to environmental regulations. The evaluation covers key areas such as environmental permitting, air and water pollution control, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, and implementation of environmental documents such as AMDAL and UKL-UPL.

For over two decades, PROPER has been a key instrument in encouraging industries to not only comply with regulations but also take an active role in the transition toward greener and more responsible practices. “Thousands of companies are assessed each year, but only a few maintain consistent performance like GRP. It’s both a point of pride and a challenge for us,” Fedaus added.

In addition to the PROPER award, GRP continues to expand its role as a future-ready, low-carbon steel producer. Most recently, the company obtained the Green Industry Standard (SIH) certification from the Ministry of Industry — a national benchmark for energy efficiency, emission reduction, and competitiveness in sustainable manufacturing.

To ensure transparency regarding the environmental impact of its products, GRP has also secured an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its export markets. This certification demonstrates the company’s openness in reporting product carbon footprints and life cycle assessments in line with international standards. For the domestic market, GRP has been awarded the Green Label Indonesia by the Green Product Council Indonesia (GPCI), recognizing products that meet eco-friendly criteria.

“These milestones reflect our transformation into a modern steel company that is not only efficient and competitive but also environmentally responsible,” said Fedaus. He emphasized that GRP will continue innovating in energy efficiency and adopting low-carbon technologies to support Indonesia’s national goal of achieving net zero emissions.

“Sustainability is not just a goal—it’s the path we’ve chosen to grow while making a positive impact on the environment, society, and the future of Indonesia’s steel industry,” he concluded.

Environmental economist from IPB University, Aceng Hidayat, praised GRP’s commitment to sustainability. “PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk is a prime example of an environmentally conscious industry. It can truly be categorized as a green industry. I hope more companies follow this example,” said Aceng.

He added that GRP’s compliance and active role in green industry practices is also a strategic investment in long-term competitiveness, especially in today’s global market where environmental responsibility is a growing priority. “Sustainability boosts competitiveness. Industries that commit to sustainability and carbon emission reduction will find their own markets,” Aceng said.

Aceng also expressed confidence that GRP would emerge as a leader in two areas. “First, GRP is driving ecological sustainability. Second, it is creating long-term business sustainability. This is why global markets, including Europe, will actively seek out companies like GRP. It’s truly remarkable,” he concluded
