Targeting 500 households, GRP Conducts Fogging and Mosquito Nest Eradication in Sukadanau Village
Cikarang Barat, February 3, 2025 – PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) once again reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the surrounding community through its corporate social responsibility program, GRP Peduli. This time, the initiative involved conducting fogging and mosquito nest eradication in Sukadanau Village, Cikarang Barat District, Bekasi Regency.
This activity, carried out in early February 2025, is a concrete effort by the company to prevent the spread of Dengue Fever (DBD), which tends to rise during the rainy season due to the increasing population of Aedes aegypti, the primary vector of the disease.
As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, the program targeted more than 500 households or approximately 200 homes in the Sukadanau area. The company not only carried out fogging to eliminate adult mosquitoes but also undertook environmental cleaning to remove potential mosquito breeding sites, such as stagnant water in discarded tires, plant pots, and clogged drains.
According to GRP’s Head of Sustainability, Sheren Omega, the GRP Peduli program aligns with the company’s efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which focuses on improving public health and preventing infectious diseases. Sheren emphasized that this initiative is part of GRP’s social responsibility to create a healthier and safer environment for the surrounding community.
"We understand that a clean and mosquito-free environment is essential in preventing the spread of Dengue Fever, which becomes more prevalent during the rainy season. That’s why, through the GRP Peduli program, we have taken the initiative to conduct fogging, mosquito nest eradication, and public education as early preventive measures. We hope this program provides real benefits to the Sukadanau community and helps create a healthier and safer environment free from infectious diseases," said Sheren in a statement today.
Through the GRP Peduli program, Sheren added, the company continues to enhance its active role in supporting public health and well-being, in line with sustainability values embedded in its operations. "GRP believes that a healthy environment is the foundation for a better life, and collaboration between companies and communities is crucial in driving positive and sustainable change," she concluded.
The Head of RT 02 Sukadanau Village, Sinun, expressed appreciation for GRP’s initiative in supporting community health and combating the spread of Dengue Fever. "We greatly appreciate GRP’s efforts in conducting fogging and mosquito nest eradication in our area. This initiative is very helpful in preventing the spread of a disease that can pose serious health risks to residents. We hope this collaboration continues to ensure a healthier environment for all the people of Sukadanau Village," said Sinun.
The rising cases of Dengue Fever in Indonesia during the rainy season have been previously highlighted by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The primary factor behind the disease’s spread is the high rainfall, which creates stagnant water—an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. Therefore, environmental prevention measures, such as fogging and mosquito nest eradication (PSN), are crucial steps in controlling the spread of this disease.
